Harry Bryans

My heart burns to help churches bring hope, love, and transformation to the wider community. 

 When children and youth grow as disciples of Jesus they discover their God-given identity, gifts and purpose in life, and it is our job as parents, educators and ministry leaders to create the safe spaces and possibilities to develop.
 
My wife Catherine and I will celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary this year. We have two adult children who are married and serving the Lord with their spouses. When possible, we love hiking, reading, playing family games, good music and a good movie! 
  • I have 39 years’ experience serving as a missionary on a local church pastoral team and with children’s, youth and family ministries in Europe. 
  • I've helped launch Children’s and Youth Ministry Networks in Europe and in the organization of European Ministry Conferences.
  • With Action International Ministries I've served on several international partnership initiatives and networks for children and youth ministry.
  • ​I'm a Maxwell Leadership Certified Team Member with specialisations in youth and parenting.

The Global Church is experiencing a Discipleship Crisis as never before where as few as 10% of youth in our Christian families and churches are considered as "Resilient Disciples", while 22% are considered “Prodigals” or "Ex-Christians" (Faith for Exiles, by David Kinnaman and Mark Matlock, Baker Books 2019).

Many parents, including church leaders, are hurting to see their prodigal children walk away from the Church and from God. Many are also fearful, guilt-ridden, and intimidated in today’s often toxic culture left feeling devastated, defeated, and discouraged by this reality.

We need an awakening by God of all the generations in the Church today to see things from God’s perspective and discover how He would have us intentionally and proactively work together to more effectively nurture our children to become Resilient, Lifelong Disciples of Jesus and unconditionally love and reclaim our prodigal children.

This workshop will reveal how we can more effectively minister to families and through families to the wider community. We will explore some new biblical understandings and applications about what the Bible teaches about nurturing children in the faith, effective models of ministry in the home and the community, and strategic opportunities for family involvement in God’s ever-growing and community-transforming Kingdom. This is not a time for despair but for hope and decisive action.
